As per Pakistan Media Freedom Report – 2021 by the Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors (CPNE) as many as nine journalists lost their lives in fight against Covid-19 while five journalists were killed in different cities of the country in 2021.

As many as two journalists committed suicide due to the lingering unemployment. One journalist was killed each in Karachi, Sukkur, Quetta, Hub and Malakand—highlighting that Sindh and Balochistan provinces are more dangerous for journalists.
